This 8-day Northeast Vietnam Adventure takes you deep into the most remote and spectacular regions of Northern Vietnam — combining the legendary Ha Giang Loop with the hidden beauty of Cao Bang, famous border roads, and untouched mountain regions rarely visited by tourists.

Starting from Hanoi, the journey follows peaceful countryside roads, tea plantations, dramatic limestone mountains, winding mountain passes, and authentic ethnic minority villages far from the usual tourist routes. Ride along remote border roads near China, explore the breathtaking rice terraces of Hoang Su Phi, conquer the iconic Ma Pi Leng Pass, and discover hidden mountain roads through Khau Vai and Bao Lac. Itinerary

Your Ha Giang – Cao Bang Hidden Trails Expedition begins at 8:00 AM, leaving behind the busy streets of Hanoi and heading toward the remote mountain regions of Northern Vietnam.
We ride along quiet countryside backroads following the Red River, passing endless rice paddies, fruit farms, small villages, and peaceful rural landscapes rarely seen by tourists. This first day is designed as a warm-up ride, allowing riders to get comfortable with the bikes while enjoying the authentic beauty of rural Vietnam.
After lunch in Doan Hung Town, the journey continues through scenic rolling hills and small local roads with occasional light off-road sections. As we approach Vu Linh village, home of the welcoming Dzao ethnic community, the landscape transforms into lush green mountains surrounding the beautiful Thac Ba Lake — known as the “Ha Long Bay of the Mountains” with thousands of small islands scattered across the water.
In the late afternoon, enjoy a relaxing boat trip on the lake before arriving at our traditional homestay, where local hospitality, homemade food, and rice wine offer the perfect introduction to the adventure ahead.

Leaving Vu Linh behind, we ride north through some of the most scenic countryside in Northern Vietnam. Quiet mountain roads wind past Thac Ba Lake, through rolling hills, terraced rice fields, and traditional ethnic minority villages. Expect a full day of rewarding riding with spectacular mountain vistas, remote valleys, and countless photo opportunities along the way. Far from the tourist crowds, this route showcases the authentic beauty and cultural diversity of Vietnam’s northern highlands. Arrive in Bac Ha in the late afternoon and enjoy the relaxed atmosphere of this charming mountain town.

Today’s ride takes us deep into one of the most beautiful and remote regions of Northern Vietnam. Leaving Bac Ha behind, we follow hidden mountain backroads through Xin Man and Hoang Su Phi — famous for its breathtaking rice terraces and untouched ethnic minority villages.
The route offers endless mountain views, winding passes, lush valleys, and authentic local life far from the tourist trails. Along the way, we stop in small villages for lunch and opportunities to experience the rich cultures of the H’mong, Dao, and Tay communities.
By late afternoon, we arrive in Ha Giang City — the gateway to Vietnam’s legendary northern frontier and the beginning of the famous Ha Giang Loop.

Today is the true highlight of the expedition. Leaving Ha Giang behind, we avoid the busy tourist roads and ride deep into the hidden mountain trails near the Chinese border.
The route winds through remote H’mong villages, dramatic limestone mountains, narrow valleys, and rugged backroads rarely explored by ordinary travelers. Expect a mix of scenic mountain passes, rocky trails, hidden river valleys, and breathtaking panoramic views across the Dong Van Karst Plateau.
Along the way, we experience authentic local life far from the tourist crowds, with endless opportunities to stop for photos and discover the raw beauty of Ha Giang’s wild frontier.
By late afternoon, we arrive in Dong Van after a full day of unforgettable adventure riding through one of the most spectacular mountain regions in Southeast Asia.

Today begins with the legendary Ma Pi Leng Pass — one of the most breathtaking mountain roads in Vietnam. Far below, the emerald Nho Que River cuts through towering limestone cliffs, creating one of Southeast Asia’s most dramatic canyon landscapes.

Depending on the route and weather conditions, riders can take a scenic boat trip through the Tu San Canyon or continue along hidden off-road detours for even more spectacular viewpoints and remote mountain trails.

Leaving the main tourist route behind, we ride through Khau Vai and remote border regions near China, following winding backroads past isolated ethnic villages, deep valleys, and rugged limestone ridgelines. One of today’s unforgettable highlights is crossing the Nho Que River on traditional bamboo rafts near the Khau Vai canyon — a unique adventure experience deep in the mountains of Ha Giang.

By late afternoon, we arrive in Bao Lac — a peaceful mountain town surrounded by dramatic limestone peaks and authentic highland culture.

Today’s ride takes us deep into the breathtaking limestone landscapes of Cao Bang province — one of the most spectacular riding regions in Northern Vietnam. Leaving Bao Lac behind, we follow hidden mountain roads through remote ethnic villages, peaceful valleys, and rugged backcountry trails far from the tourist crowds.
One of today’s highlights is conquering the famous 14-level Me Pass, a dramatic mountain road twisting through towering limestone cliffs with endless panoramic views across deep valleys and untouched highlands.
The ride continues along winding mountain passes, narrow dirt trails, and scenic hidden routes that make this one of the most rewarding adventure riding days of the expedition. Along the way, there are many opportunities to stop for photos and experience authentic local life in the remote mountain regions.
Before reaching Ban Gioc, we explore the stunning Angel Eye Mountain Valley (Mat Than Mountain) — one of Cao Bang’s hidden natural gems. Surrounded by dramatic limestone karsts, open grasslands, and peaceful streams, the valley offers breathtaking scenery and an unforgettable riding atmosphere. We also visit Nguom Ngao Cave, one of Northern Vietnam’s most impressive cave systems, famous for its massive stalactites and winding underground chambers.

Wake up surrounded by the peaceful sounds of nature before visiting the majestic Ban Gioc Waterfall — one of the most spectacular natural wonders in Vietnam. Located directly on the Vietnam–China border, the waterfall cascades through multiple limestone tiers into emerald-green pools below. Riders can also enjoy a traditional bamboo raft ride closer to the falls for an unforgettable experience.
Leaving Ban Gioc behind, we continue through the stunning limestone landscapes of Cao Bang, riding scenic countryside roads past remote villages, hidden valleys, and dramatic karst formations. Along the way, we pass through some of the region’s unique mountain tunnel roads and cave passages, including the famous Tham Khach Cave route — an unforgettable riding experience deep within the limestone mountains.
The route offers a smoother and more relaxed riding day, allowing time to fully enjoy the incredible scenery, authentic local culture, and peaceful atmosphere of Northern Vietnam’s remote countryside.
Depending on the chosen route and riding style, the expedition continues toward the peaceful Ba Be Lake region — home to Vietnam’s largest natural lake and traditional Tay villages — or heads toward the breathtaking Bac Son Valley, famous for its endless rice fields surrounded by towering limestone mountains.
For riders staying in Bac Son, there is an optional sunset hike to Na Lay Peak for panoramic valley views. Those heading to Ba Be can relax beside the lake and enjoy the quiet beauty of the national park.

Leaving the mountains behind, we continue along scenic countryside backroads toward Hanoi, stopping for lunch and a few final photo opportunities along the way.
We aim to arrive back in Hanoi by mid to late afternoon, marking the end of an unforgettable expedition through Vietnam’s remote northern frontier.
